Popular TV host Arnell Ignacio signed this week a memorandun of agreement with top officers of Sabon Depot, the country's fastest-growing franchise that aims to give Filipinos greater access to more affordable, yet better, kind of clean.

From showbiz to entrepreneurship to government service and, now, back to being an entrepreneur, Arnell said he has long been eyeing to put up a store that sells cleaning products primarily because he is "OC" (obsessive-compulsive) when it comes to cleanliness at home. Arnell announced he is opening five outlets in Cainta.

Arnell, who resigned as deputy administrator of Overseas Workers Welfare Administration last year, has been known as a successful entrepreneur in showbiz circles, with business as varied as wig and toupee fabrication, a siomai and sales of vintage cars.

During the signing held 16 July 2020), Sabon Depot Founder & CEO Joey Corpuz said: "Sabon Depot is a viable business, even during a pandemic. In fact, based on actual sales, it is more feasible during this time of crisis."

HIGH QUALITY, ECONOMICAL PRODUCTS

Sabon Depot sells inexpensive cleaning and disinfecting products for homes and institutional clients:liquid detergent, antibacterial hand wash, dishwashing liquid, car shampoo, bleach and toilet cleaner.

All of its disinfecting products are hospital-grade, that’s why even the Department of Health is among Sabon Depot’s chief clients. More importantly, all products are approved by the Department of Science and Technology.

Clean Up, the flagship brand of Sabon Depot, features a line of products made from the highest quality organic substances and synthetic compositions. Every formulation is tried, tested and upgraded, as needed.

The company adheres to the strictest laboratory standards to provide cleaning solutions, safe for human use and are environment-friendly.

FAST GROWTH

As one of the country's newest and most dynamic franchises, Sabon Depot has been steadily experiencing exponential growth, with multiple branches cropping up across Central Luzon in recent weeks.

According to Joey -- a former Territory Manager for Mead Johnson Nutritionals and a former professor of a graduate school program -- "the business is growing so fast. In South Luzon alone, 30 franchise stores are set to open this month."

Joey also announced that Caloocan has just opened today (18 July 2020) and that he and Mellany are bound for Lubao Pampanga to open another Sabon Depot.

Mellany, a live events producer who heads MediaBiz agency (and is now tasked with Sabon Depot’s marketing and branding) said that refilling is Sabon Depot's best marketing program to date.

Sabon Depot is the first detergent depository in the Philippines that sells refills of household sanitation products.

As a 'refilling station' where used product bottles are refilled at a much-reduced cost, Mellany announced that Sabon Depot will soon fabricate its own own refilling drums to service the needs of more customers needing product refills.

Mellany said they will also make a available a fleet of trucks to enable the company deliver products where they are needed.

To date, there are more than 200 Sabon Depot stores all over Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, with regional manufacturing plants strategically located in Bocaue and Marilao in Bulacan, Santiago City in Isabela, Angeles City in Pampanga, Baguio City, Lipa City in Batangas, Talomo Davao City, Panabo City in Davao del Sur, Tacloban City in Leyte, Iloilo City and Cebu City.

Soon, a manufacturing plant will open in Daraga in Albay.

Joey is from Santiago Isabela but the first Sabon Depot was established in Tuguegarao.

Joey, who hails from Santiago City, founded Sabon Depot in 2011 with the opening of his first store in Tuguegarao. From that first outlet, the Sabon Depot enterprise has grown by leaps and bounds.

Recently, Sabon Depot began conquering NCR wth the opening of its Marikina branch on July 12, 2020. This first branch in NCR is helmed by Jerome Malate, who has pivoted from events organizing into a Sabon Debot franchisee. Another NCR branch is set to open in Caloocan.

There are multiple Sabon Depot outlets slated to open all over NCR and Luzon in 2020. The company's thrust is to roll out Sabon Depot in every province across the Philippines in the next few years.

Aside from Arnell, more celebrities are jumping into the Sabon Depot bandwagon. The Philippines' "Prince of Ballad" Gerald Santos is set to open stores in Malabon and Batangas.

Coronavirus couture: the rise of the designer face mask

Following ECQ regulations, some fashionistas are opting to have a hint of couture in their face masks. LUXE PRINTS: face masks by Jhay Layson. (PHOTO: J. Layson) After health authorities in the Philippines mandated that all its citizens wear facial coverings when going outside, allowing even washable cotton face masks,  a new market opened up: the designer face mask.  Corona-related demand has even enabled some fashion designers to reopen their shops,   providing desperately needed PPEs and, for some, self-expression amidst the chaos.   Of late, providing an alternative to the hospital-grade single-use masks (which are often not available in stores), the ones sold by independent Filipino designers have playful styles fit for a public health crisis and couture looks. Top events planner Ricci Ang pivots during pandemic

Ricci's Kitchen came about when the lockdown started, proving that a successful pivot is possible even during a pandemic. Event companies have struggled under the shutdown during the coronavirus pandemic.   When live events started getting cancelled under the stay-at-home order by the government in March, R&A Events Specialist, a premier full-service events management company under the helm of Ricci Ang, pivoted in response.   The idea of converting his home into a dine-in resto, or offering a takeout meal for individuals and families, was something Ricci has not considered before.   But once the pandemic shut down the events that he had been working on -- and huge sums of booked weddings and corporate events vanished – Ricci had to move quickly to protect his staff and his enterprise.
